My light shines so bright, but I still walk towards the sun to recharge🌞

I took a long walk yesterday. It felt real great. For a portion of the walk, I chatted with a girlfriend and laughed and caught up with the seriousness of our lives. We laughed about things, we commented “No way” about some things, and as always we ended with the “love you girlfriend.”

I continued walking for another mile towards my home and I saw the sun setting. I saw golfers in my backyard. I saw the speed limit sign that read 15. This reminded me of the journey I have been on over the last few years.

To slow down is something hard for many of us. We feel the need to rush and do so many things because obviously we have to work to get our bills paid, we must join this organization and this committee because we just have to, and of course we only have 24 hours in a day so it’s imperative that we rush.

I stood and looked at the sign for a moment and then turned my eyes to look at the sun setting. I would have never been able to do this is I kept up my hustle and bustle that I had been on for a long while. I couldn’t have done this if I did not have the peace and joy and happiness in my soul that I have now.

When your light is already bright, sometimes you do have moments when you notice the flicker of your light. It flickers because of a shortage somewhere and to recharge, you must stand still and walk towards the light.

As you continue throughout your week, take a moment to engage in a full conversation with someone without any interruption even if it means walking to get away from the noise. And if you see the sun setting, take a moment to stop, look, and just stand their to recharge you.
